Greg’s vocation has been prosthetics for the past 34 years. He has
graduated in 1972 from Northeastern Illinois University with a BA in
Science and Business and Northwestern University’s Prosthetic
Program in 1975. Greg has enjoyed speaking across the country
through the years on many different topics including VASS systems,
socket design for Transfemoral amputees, hip disarticulation gait,
congenital deficiencies, multiple limb deficiencies and myo-electric
upper extremity prostheses for children. He has presented case
studies and special fittings to the American Board of Orthopedic
Surgeons. Greg has also contributed to studies with leading
surgeons on amputation levels and its effects with microprocessor
knees. Having his own practice, it has afforded him and his
colleagues at Suburban to maintain an aggressive impact of
research and development while maintaining a warm and family-
like atmosphere in this facility.
Meet the Team

    Ryan Caldwell, CP, LP,
    Orthotic/Pedorthic Resident

Ryan graduated from Northeastern Illinois University in 2001 with a
Bachelors of Science Degree in Marketing.  Ryan has more than 9
years experience having grown up working in the field of O&P. He
has completed all three programs at the Northwestern University
Prosthetic Orthotic Center in downtown Chicago. Ryan has
pioneered the uses of vacuum technology in prosthetics and
orthotics in development of many different applications including
upper extremity and partial foot amputations. He has worked on an
elevated vacuum study relative to the correlation of vacuum in
prosthetics and wound-vac therapy that is commonly used in the
treatment of ulcerations and wounds. Ryan will be teaching his
theory and techniques for the certificate and masters programs for
prosthetics at Northwestern University. In the fall of 2007, Ryan
presented his findings with vacuum technology to fellow
practitioners at the National Assembly meeting for the American
Orthotic & Prosthetic Association in Las Vegas. Ryan is currently
involved with several more studies looking at socket designs for
the transfemoral (above knee) amputee using sub ischial sub
atmospheric socket technology.  In March 2009, he will proudly
participate and present in the clinical techniques program for
brimless transfemoral socket designs for the American Academy of
Orthotists and Prosthetists at the 35th Annual Meeting and
Scientific Symposium.
